Similar to Uber's recent partnership with Spotify (and its previous collaboration with KKBOX in Taiwan), Apple has partnered with Ola, the ride-hailing app equivalent of India's Didi Chuxing, to allow users to listen to music from Apple Music during rides. However, Ola isn't just collaborating with Apple; it's also partnering with Sony, Qualcomm, All India Backchod, Fynd, and Audio Compass on a service called Ola Play.
In the Ola Play service content, after users call a car through the app, they can confirm the journey details, adjust the air conditioning and audio system in the car, and listen to videos, radio or e-books through the tablet device provided in the car. Users can control the content of the tablet device synchronously through the pre-downloaded Ola Play App.
Prior to this, Uber has also teamed up with Spotify and KKBOX to provide on-demand music playback services while users are in the car. At the same time, users can also pre-select the music they want to play during the ride service.
The cooperation with Ola is Apple's second cooperation with an App-based ride-hailing service provider after it announced its investment in Didi Chuxing in May this year. It is obvious that Apple is indeed interested in vehicle application projects.
However, previous news indicated that Apple may shift its original intention of building cars to focusing on providing a better driving experience. Judging from its recent continued investment in vehicle services, Apple may continue to expand its vehicle application service ecosystem to create greater economic momentum.
