Previously announced acquisitionUltimate Ears (UE), JaybirdHeadphone brands such as Logitech have announced that they will acquire a professional gaming headset manufacturer for $8500 million.Astro Gaming, which is expected to strengthen the development capabilities of the gaming headset market.
Significantly impressed by Astro Gaming's strengths in gaming headset development, Logitech has confirmed that it will retain the independence of the Astro Gaming brand following its acquisition, similar to its previous acquisition of Ultimate Ears (UE). Jaybird will retain its brand and will not merge with Logitech's existing Logitech G division, instead focusing on developing its presence in the home gaming console market.
However, Logitech stated that the Astro Gaming brand will focus on the home video game console market, while Logitech G is expected to focus on the PC market. This seems to mean that in the future, Astro Gaming brand gaming headsets will place more emphasis on promoting products on home video game console platforms such as Xbox and PlayStation.
Logitech expects to complete the acquisition of Astro Gaming in early August this year, but has not yet provided specific details on future product plans.
