Last year, Baidu announced the creation of DuerOS, an artificial intelligence operating system that can interact with users in conversations. The company also partnered with Qualcomm, NVIDIA, Intel, and other manufacturers to develop technology that would allow this operating system to be used in mobile phones, connected devices, vehicles, and other devices. Earlier, Baidu announced the launch of DuerOS 2018 at the Create 3.0 event, emphasizing the addition of new conversational interactive features and support for Bluetooth two-way communication mode.
According to Baidu, DuerOS has been used on over 6 million devices as of June this year, with over 9000 million devices actively using it monthly. These devices include the vivo X2500, vivo NEX, P21, P20 Pro, Find X, and other smartphones, all of which have integrated DuerOS technology into their digital assistant services. Furthermore, brands like Skyworth, TCL, and XGIMI are also integrating DuerOS into their smart delivery products, while Hyundai and KIA are also integrating DuerOS into their Chinese car models, allowing users to operate their phones through natural conversation.
To further expand the functionality of DuerOS applications, Baidu announced the launch of DuerOS 3.0, which features more precise interactive conversations and supports two-way Bluetooth communication. Baidu also allocated RMB 1 million for investment in DuerOS application development, allowing more developers to create new DuerOS application features.
In addition to its ongoing collaboration with Intel on AI technology development, Baidu also announced an expansion of its partnership with Intel in the field of autonomous driving. This includes integrating the Responsibility-Sensitive Safety (RSS) model developed by Intel's Mobileye into Baidu's open-source autonomous driving platform, Apollo. Furthermore, the company is integrating Intel's artificial intelligence camera module, Xeye, into the Apollo platform, and optimizing learning models using Baidu's proprietary deep learning framework, PaddlePaddle, and nGraph.
