The new version of Gmail, which was previously leaked, was officially announced by Google earlier in terms of update details. It includes a new, more simplified look, and a cursor that can be hovered over the email title to archive, delete, mark as read, or read later. It even displays attachments directly under the email title, and reminds users to reply or track progress. For corporate users, it also adds the ability to set the effective opening time of emails and more significant security protection features.
Before Google I/O 2018 officially kicked off, Google announced the update of Gmail as expected, and as previously revealed, it added a further simplified new look, allowing users to use the Gmail service more intuitively.
In the new version, users can archive, delete, mark messages as read, or schedule them for later viewing by hovering their cursor over the message title, preventing notifications from accidentally revealing the message's read status. The new version of Gmail also adds the ability to display attachments below the message title and a reminder to reply after the title, reminding users to keep track of the progress of the discussion. It also supports automated responses powered by artificial intelligence.
As for the important email function, the new version of Gmail will analyze whether the email is marked as important, starred, or based on the frequency of email exchanges, and remind users in a timely manner according to the date and other content mentioned in the email. In addition, it will ask whether to unsubscribe from advertising emails and e-newsletters that have not been opened for a long time to prevent such email content from taking up Gmail space.
As for corporate users, the new version of Gmail further strengthens letter encryption, enhances protection against malicious attacks such as phishing letters or letters containing viruses, and allows users to set an effective reading time for letters. Once the recipient opens the letter and exceeds the set time limit, the letter content cannot be opened again.
Since the update is released for global regions, the time it takes for different regions and users to receive the update should be different.
