At the same time, it will be authorized to partners for free to expand larger IoT application scenarios.
Unveiled at Build 2017 last yearAzure IoT Edge service platformMicrosoft has long been involved in Azure Sphere security solutions, and last year launched a low-cost IoT device called Project Sopris, hoping to popularize IoT applications by meeting low-cost deployment requirements.
Azure Sphere, announced earlier, bridges the gap between hardware and software integration. By collaborating with chip manufacturers including MediaTek to create a new class of microcontrollers with higher performance and improved security than older microcontrollers, it will be made available to more manufacturers through free licensing, thereby accelerating the expansion of more efficient and secure IoT application models.
The first microcontroller developed in collaboration with MediaTek, the MT3620, has pre-integrated security and networking functions, allowing IoT devices to improve security protection from the endpoint. It also improves the performance of endpoint connection computing, thereby increasing the connection computing efficiency of IoT devices and preventing external attacks from affecting more simultaneously connected devices.
As for the Linux-based Azure Sphere, it can be optimized for IoT operating scenarios and integrates with the security features of the Windows operating system. Through multi-layered security structure protection measures, IoT devices can operate and connect with each other in a more secure hardware and software integrated environment. It can also integrate Microsoft Windows Hello technology and the open FIDO 2.0 identity recognition technology standard proposed by the FIDO Alliance.
