The recently announced Leica S (Typ 006), a new medium-format camera that inherits several design improvements from the Leica S (Typ 007), was announced today (September 9rd) to be entering the Taiwanese market. However, the suggested retail price in Taiwan has not yet been announced, remaining at €3 for the body only.
Compared to the previously released Leica S (Typ 006), the newly released Leica S (Typ 007) introduces the new Leica Maestro II image processor and Leica Pro Format CMOS sensor design. The timing pixel has been increased from the previous CCD sensor to 3750 million pixels, and 4K video recording function and in-body GPS positioning function have been added. In addition, Wi-Fi connection function has been introduced to follow the trend. The body is also made of dust and weather-resistant aluminum and magnesium material.
As for photography, the Leica S (Typ 007) can shoot 35K video in Sure 4 mode, while also offering a still image capture rate of 3.5 frames per second. Furthermore, 2GB of memory has been added to the camera mechanism to buffer data during shooting, further improving image processing speed after each shutter press and increasing the shutter life to approximately 15 times. File storage can be done via either SD or CF memory cards, with both being compatible.
The Leica S (Typ 007) has not yet announced its suggested retail price in Taiwan, and currently remains based on the announced price of 18000 Euros for the body alone.
