During Intel's keynote address at Computex 2015, Acer reiterated its intention to enter the esports market with the Predator brand and collaborate with Intel to promote the gaming app market. The Acer Predator 8 gaming tablet, previously unveiled at a new device launch in New York, also made a reappearance at the event, confirming its inclusion of Intel's new Cherry Trail platform Atom x7 series processor, providing enhanced performance.
As for the operating system, it was previously stated that it would use the Android platform, suggesting that Acer will target the underserved Android market for gaming-focused tablets. While there are already numerous high-performance smartphones, driving the growth of the mobile gaming market, Android tablets specifically focused on gaming or high performance remain relatively rare. For example, few Android devices currently feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. Therefore, Acer's announcement of its entry into the high-end Android gaming tablet market will likely face limited competition.
