In June of this year, it announced that it would expand the office space of its headquarters in Mountain View, and earlier news confirmed that Google will complete two real estate transactions in the near future, including the acquisition of three additional office buildings.
According to an internal email from Jay Bechtel, Google's head of real estate resources, the company plans to acquire two office buildings in Sun Valley, California, at 2.25 Moffett Park Dr. and 215 Borregas Ave., totaling approximately 1190 square feet, for $29.8 million. The transaction is expected to close on September 9th, Pacific time. Another deal, expected to close on September 14th, involves the purchase of a 9 square foot office building at 20 E Caribbean Dr., also in Sun Valley, currently owned by software company JFrog, for $2050 million.
Prior to this, Google had purchased three office buildings in Sun Valley from NetApp for US$3.187 million. In July of this year, it also purchased a property in Sun Valley for US$7 million to use as an office building. This shows that Google has recently been building office buildings outside of Mountain View. For example, Sun Valley, where a large number of office buildings have been set up recently, also planned to purchase office buildings in San Jose. However, it is not yet clear which product projects the office teams are expected to be responsible for.
Google has not responded to this yet, but its previous statement was that in order to cope with the expansion of the internal team, it must continue to increase office space to cope with the continued increase in the number of employees and new business projects.
