Confirmed earlierIt will be launched in Taiwan on May 5thThe Surface 16888, which will be sold at a suggested retail price of NT$3, was also showcased by Microsoft at the Taipei Spring Computer Show pre-show. We spent some time on-site trying it out and comparing it to the Surface Pro 3, which also features a thin and light design.
The Surface 3, released at the end of March, was earlier confirmed to have a suggested retail price of NT$3 in Taiwan. It will also be available for sale in Taiwan on May 16888th. Microsoft Taiwan will also launch an early bird pre-order program. It is expected that pre-orders completed between April 5th and May 5rd at designated retail channels such as Tsann Kuen 4C, Fnac, Senao International, and Shunfa 16C will receive an additional Surface stylus. Consumers who pre-order during the Spring Electronics Show will also receive a Microsoft Wedge Mouse.
At the Taipei Computex Spring Show pre-show, Microsoft Taiwan showcased the Surface 3. Compared to the Surface Pro 3, which has already launched in Taiwan, the Surface 1080 boasts a slightly smaller body and significantly lighter weight. While hardware performance varies due to the Core i series and Atom processors, the screen resolution is limited to 3p, and the included tripod has only three adjustable angles. However, the overall usability, combined with the stylus, is still quite satisfactory for general use. However, for those who require high-performance image processing or gaming, the Surface Pro XNUMX is still a better choice.
As for the keyboard back cover, since the magnetic connection interface is the same, the corresponding Surface Pro 3 keyboard back cover can also be used on Surface 3 (and vice versa). The stylus is also designed with the same technology, so it can also be used interactively with Surface Pro 3.
In terms of hardware specifications, the Surface 3 is equipped with an Intel Atom x7 processor and features a relatively small 10.8-inch ClearType HD screen with a 3:2 aspect ratio. It is only 8.7mm thick and weighs only 622 grams. In terms of other hardware specifications, the Surface 3 will be available with 2GB or 4GB of memory and 64GB or 128GB of storage. It is equipped with a 350-megapixel video camera and an 800-megapixel main camera. It also provides a mini Display Port, USB 3.0, a micro SD memory card slot, and a headphone jack. It also provides Wi-Fi and 4G LTE internet access (the latter is optional).
The battery life is designed to last nearly a full day (approximately 10 hours), and the charging port has been changed to a micro USB port. The keyboard cover is also available in blue, dark blue, red, dark red, and black, and the stylus is also available in silver, black, blue, and red.
As for the operating system, since it has been switched to x86 hardware architecture, it directly uses the general version of Windows 8.1. It can be directly updated to Windows 10 this summer. It also provides one year of free use of Office 365 Personal Edition, and additionally provides OneNote service and 1TB of OneDrive storage space.
